BIOGRAPHY

Piero Moriconi was born in Pietrasanta (Lucca) on 18-04-1949. He studied at the Istituto D’Arte “Stagio Stagi” in Pietrasanta under renowned artists such as Alfredo Catarsini, Franco Miozzo, Umberto Bonetti and Marino Mariani from whom he learned the art of design, painting and sculpture in its various forms. Following this period he entered the teaching profession, specialising in applied art in marble and stone, teaching sculpture, inlay work and decoration for 13 years at the Istituto D’Arte “Stagio Stagi” in Pietrasanta and for 20 years at the Istituto D’Arte “Felice Palma” at Massa (Ms. Carrara).
From 2004 until 2009 he had a personal gallery in the historic centre of Seravezza where he exhibited his sculptures in bronze and his paintings.
His art is closely linked to the Tuscan tradition: the Etruscans, the Macchiaioli, Modigliani, Giacometti. With their vertical development and their stately forms the works produce above all a sense of spirituality, together with a gentle harmony giving rise to a feeling of serenity.
Piero Moriconi realises his sculptures in bronze at the important Fonderia Artistica Mariani in Pietrasanta.
He lives and works near Seravezza.
